Outreach

The Outreach Ministry is concerned with the public community islanders live and work in. By taking a firm Christian viewpoint, the Ministry looks for ways in which the Church and its members can assist the community and spread the word of Christ. Current projects include:

  • Raising funds and awareness for local and overseas relief work
  • Supporting the Lorraine Rest Home
  • Feeding the homeless (joint project with the Care ministry)
  • Providing laundry facilities for the homeless (joint project with the Care ministry)
  • Providing hot meals for the homeless and people on financial assistance who are dealing with food insecurity

Current projects include:

  • Loads of Love laundry service – The Loads of Love building is open on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 11:30 am providing the homeless or those who find themselves in distressed circumstances, with shower and laundry facilities along with breakfast. This program has been in service since March, 2011.
  • Feeding Programme – This program was created at the onset of Covid when a need arose to feed those who were financially impacted by the pandemic. Hot meals are served Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and Saturdays from 11 am to 12 pm. This programme is available only to homeless and those on financial assistance.
  • Bermuda Overseas Mission. This charity was formed to help countries overseas struggling with survival while providing the people of Bermuda, particularly youth, an opportunity to make a positive impact both locally and globally, through implementing sustainable solutions to global needs such as housing, clean water and access to education.
  • School uniforms – For many years we have been donating $2,500 or more, annually to The Family Centre. This donation is split between Boyles for school shoes and English Sports Shop for school uniforms and given to families they identify as having a financial need. A smaller donation has also been given to Gina Spence Productions in the past, as that charity also assists families with school uniforms.

The church holds fund raising brunches or activities to assist in raising funds for this special donation and there are members of the congregation who also give generously to this cause.
