TENTING OF THE HALL

In previous messages we advised that Thorburn Hall and all buildings attached to the hall such as the kitchen, west hall and office, would be closed next week due to tenting for termites. Unfortunately, Bermuda Pest Control is unable to tent due to the expected high winds coming next week. The office will remain opened next week, but the feeding programme is still suspended until January 8th. We plan to reschedule the tenting for March 25, 2024.

APPEAL FROM BOM FOR MALAWI

The village people of Malawi are complaining of hunger to the point that some are boiling mangoes as breakfast, lunch as well as dinner. This is due to the recent devaluation that has caused the rise in the price of maize on the market which is the staple and the only available food on the local market.

This problem stems from the lack of availability of jobs since those that tend to offer jobs are also affected by the devaluation crisis. For example, one of the beneficiaries of the organization is admitted to the due to the Melanie district hospital, suffering from anemia which has caused due to lack of balanced diet mangoes are only fruits, this situation is keeping life of children, women’s and elderly people in danger.

However emergency support to the village will rescue them, and the learn period is prolonged due to El Nino which has hit the southern part of Africa and Malawi the southern part have been hinted badly, the situation that is difficult to describe.

The situation is hopeless, this will lead to gender domestic violence, women and children will be the victims.
