Congregational Life

Congregational Life Committee

The focus of the Congregational Life committee is the care of members of our worship community and to build a strong sense of fellowship and community by those who participate in one of Christ Church Warwick’s worship services or in our outreach programmes.  Individuals who are interested in participating in, and building the up, the community that makes up Christ Church Warwick are always welcome to participate in one of the focus areas of the Congregational Care Committee.  Just let the church office know of your interest and an organiser will be in touch with you.

Pastoral Care

Caring for each other during times of hardship or joy is not solely the work of the Minister.  We are each called to care for each other.  Pastoral care happens through many different activities, both big and small.

Welcome Guild – The welcome guild is one of the most prominent and impactful teams within the church.  Members of the welcome guild provide tea, coffee and treats after church services which gives worshipers a time to greet each other and to get to know one another by sharing time and stories.  The organizer of the Welcome Guild is Sue Garland.

Flower Guild – Fresh flowers are gratefully accepted by donors and can be noted in the bulletin to celebrate a special occasion or remembrance.  These flowers are then distributed to individuals who have suffered an illness, bereavement, or are struggling with some aspect of life.  Flowers become a tangible sign of the church’s care.  If you are willing to deliver flowers, please let the office know.  We will try to match a driver close to or in the general direction of the recipient’s home.

Visiting – reaching out to members of the Church who are seniors, home bound, celebrating life events, or facing illness or death and offering the church’s love and support is one of the best ways of demonstrating support to the members of our community.  If you are willing to visit people near your home, please let the office know.

Communications

Communicating with the members of Christ Church is vital to building up our community.  Informing our members and the public of all the wonderful activities and opportunities within the church is essential to achieving a robust and caring community.

Recording of Worship Services – Our weekly recorded services ensure that members near and far can participate in worship even when they can’t attend in person.  Our online recordings not only provide the opportunity for home bound or individuals facing illnesses to participate in a weekly service, but it also enables members who have travelled for work, family, or any other reason to stay connected to Christ Church.  If you have technical computer skills or production/web streaming skills this may be an area where you would like to help the church.  The organizer of weekly recordings is Roger Oldfield.

Newsletters – Newsletters are produced by our wonderful Church secretary and contain interesting stories, updates and peeks into upcoming events.  If you are a writer and a keen observer and would like to assist by writing and submitting articles, this could be a fun way for you to volunteer some time to the church.

Website, Social Media and Online tools – We get our information today from many online sources and this is a critical way for the church to share its activities and upcoming events.  If you enjoy and have the skills to connect and make an impact on social media platforms, this may be a place where you would like to volunteer some time.

Fellowship

Spending time together outside of a worship setting enables us to come together as a community, to get to know one another better and enables us to recognise when someone might need support, a friendly word or a hug. As in all fellowship activities many hands make light work, so if anything sounds fun to you, please let the office know you would be willing to help out occasionally.

Fabulous Fridays – Once a month during the school year, we gather together for a programme of music, games, or other activity to enjoy each-others company. The evening begins after work at 6 pm and goes until 8:30. Most programmes are designed for all ages to be able to come and enjoy time together. The church provides an entrée and participants complete the meal with a side, salad or dessert. This is meant to be an easy night, so while we truly enjoy homemade items, purchasing something on the way from a supermarket is perfectly acceptable.

Movie Nights – periodically our youth leaders will organise family movie nights with pizza, popcorn and a good movie. It is a great opportunity to have a nice family night out and see one another.

Special Activities – periodically the church will host a special activity such as a car rally, dinner, dance or other programme just for fun. Again, it gives us an opportunity to be together in fellowship.
