Welcome and Notices

Call to worship

Minister: In his forty days in the wilderness Jesus faced hunger, doubt and temptation.
Congregation: As we seek to follow Jesus, may we be ready to face uncomfortable choices.
Minister: Jesus left the wilderness, renewed in faith and obedient to God, rejoicing in the One in whom he trusted.
Congregation: Help us to continue on a path to faithfulness, led by Christ, rejoicing in the Lord our God.

We say the Collect together:
Almighty God,
whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness,
and was tempted as we are, yet without sin:
give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to your Spirit;
and, as you know our weakness,
so may we know your power to save;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

From the Bible, on how we should regard time

One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you. Deuteronomy 32: 7
Look to the rock from which you were cut and the quarry from which you were hewn. Isaiah 51: 1

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6: 34

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Isaiah 43:18-19

Where there is no vision, the people will perish. Proverbs chap 29: 18

Go Now in Peace
Go now in peace, never be afraid,
God will go with you each hour of every day.
Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.
Know he will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe.
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there, watching from above.
Go now in peace, in faith and in love.
