HELP FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Our church secretary, Sandra, has been using her spare time when she is not in the church office, to assist with fundraising with Habitat for Humanity for its latest large capital project, the St. James Rectory in Somerset.

Habitat have partnered with Bermuda Hospital Board (BHB) and the Anglican Church to restore the derelict St. James Rectory in Somerset into a Residential Treatment Center for long term psychiatric patients currently living at Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute. The intent is to deinstitutionalize all of the long-term care psychiatric patients into homes within the community that they came from.

This is an important and groundbreaking project for Bermuda. Habitat for Humanity has been brought onboard to raise $600,000 to restore and repurpose the St. James Rectory into a home that patients can be well taken care of in, a place offering dignity and hope.

The mission of Habitat is to be there for those who cannot afford to restore their living accommodations from sub-standard conditions into safe and sustainable homes. This was the need presented by both the Anglican Church and the BHB and Habitat took it on.

They have an aggressive number to reach and it is only with the support of our community and local businesses that they can reach it. If you are interested in supporting this project, please go to their website to learn more and the different ways you can help https://www.habitat.bm/st-james-rectory-project

There is also a fundraising event on May 20th which is explained in the poster in the link below with information about the event and how to register.
