CHRIST CHURCH WARWICK – FRIDAY BULLETIN

6 JUNE 2025

IMPORTANT EVENTS THIS WEEKEND
This weekend is an important one for Christ Church Warwick! As referenced in last week’s e-mails, the congregation’s Nominating Committee, whose task was to conduct a search for the next minister of Christ Church, has unanimously recommended to the congregation a Sole Nominee to preach for the Call: the Very Reverend Dr. Martin Fair. As such, Martin, along with his wife Elaine, are visiting Bermuda this weekend. Please read on for details, and make every effort to be with us at these important times this weekend.

TOMORROW – SATURDAY 7 JUNE 2025
INFORMAL MEETING WITH MARTIN AND ELAINE FAIR
Tomorrow, Saturday 7 June 2025, the Very Rev Dr. Martin Fair and his wife Elaine will be in attendance at the Thorburn Hall between 11:30am and 1pm; members and friends are invited to drop by at any point to meet and chat with them. This is a completely informal gathering and simply offers another opportunity for anyone in Bermuda to meet the Fairs while they are here over the weekend. Tea and coffee will be provided by the Welcome Guild.

THIS SUNDAY – 8 JUNE 2025
CHURCH SERVICE AND COMMUNION ON PENTECOST SUNDAY
At the 10:00am church service this Sunday, 8 June 2025, Pentecost Sunday, the Very Rev Dr. Martin Fair will preach as Sole Nominee and will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING AND VOTE
At a congregational meeting immediately following the church service this Sunday, 8 June 2025, those members of Christ Church and adherents on the electoral roll who are present will be asked to vote on whether they support the Very Rev Dr. Martin Fair’s Call to Christ Church.

KIRK SESSION
The Kirk Session will meet in the Choir immediately after the Congregational Meeting, for the counting of ballot papers.

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCHEON
After the counting of ballot papers by the Kirk Session this Sunday, 8 June 2025, a fellowship lunch will be held in the Thorburn Hall with Martin and Elaine Fair. Again, all are welcome to join.

CHRIST CHURCH YOUTH (CCY)
Please note that, due to the important events in church this Sunday, 8 June 2025, there will be no CCY; however, children are most welcome to stay in the church throughout the service. CCY will resume next Sunday.

OTHER ITEMS
Below are other items related to Christ Church Warwick.

SPECIAL MUSIC DURING COMMUNION THIS SUNDAY
Wanda Barnes will be singing a solo during Communion this Sunday, and she has shared the following information about the music, including a translation of the words from Latin:

The piece, Panis Angelicus, was composed in 1872 by Cesar Franck, and the title translates from Latin to ‘Bread of Angels’. The words are the penultimate stanza of a hymn written by Saint Thomas Aquinas in the 13th century, namely Sacris solemniis, which was part of the complete liturgy for the feast of Corpus Christi. The hymn reflects on the Eucharist and the miraculous transformation of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ.

May the bread of angels
Become the bread of mankind;
The Bread of Heaven ends all symbols
Oh, miraculous thing,
The body of the Lord will nourish the poor,
The poor and humble servant,
The poor and humble servant.

REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEER DRIVERS FOR REV ANGUS MORRISON
